Bud Harris Cycling Track, Pittsburgh, Washington Blvd Oval Crit

I had the great opportunity to attended the dedication of the Washington Blvd racing oval here in the 'burgh.  It was named the Bud Harris Cycling Track, in honor of one of Pittsburgh's great names in cycling....Forrest 'Bud' Harris.  I was fortunate to spend a few years of my younger life living next door to the Harris'.  Ann, Bud, Susie, and Mat.  You can see Mat's BMX gear in the Heinz History Center, he won the world BMX title in it...I think.
Oh, and here are some of Bud's photographs http://www.budharrisphotos.com

I don't really get the whole oval racing thing to be honest..I mean it looks like it could be fun, but seems like Nascar on two wheels...not my cup of tea.  Anyway, it was great to see some friends and hang out with some of the Bike Pittsburgh crew last night.  Glad Susie and Mat could make it to town for the dedication; Mat even raced Bud's old bike in the C race.

  1. Hi Jon,

I’d like to introduce a new sports directory, It’s ALL Sports. There's a special edition for the Pittsburgh area and one for Butler County. The purpose is to provide a resource for everything sports related. This includes personal trainers, camps, sports facilities, sports medicine and other sports categories. We want to include a sports photography section to help parents and coaches identify photographers for their teams and tournaments. I'm also working to include a major section on cycling and have begun adding the associations that are focused on cycling.

The Visit Butler County group is focused on bringing sporting events to the county and will use the directory to introduce the variety of sports facilities, leagues and services that are located in and near the county. They will email “It’s ALL Sports” – Butler County edition to over 20,000 people numerous times during the year to highlight events in the county. These are people that may be planning to hold tournaments and other sports events and would want a photographer to cover their events.

The second option is the “It's ALL Sports” – Pittsburgh North edition.
